The Orchard, in partnership with SmartCompany, recently released their inaugural email marketing report, The Australian Email Benchmark Report 2018.

The report presents survey results from over 400 Australian businesses of various sizes, across multiple industries on all things email marketing, including email platforms used, number and type of emails sent, level of automation used, and mobile optimisation.

The report additionally features helpful advice and insights, to help businesses achieve an optimal and successful email marketing strategy.

Most interesting was the scale of companies who lack the resources or knowledge to effectively measure and optimise their email marketing efforts:

  • 1 in 5 companies did not know their average open rate
  • Almost 1 in 3 did not know their average click rate
  • 9% of businesses could not measure their email channel ROI at all
